DIMSUM DIMSUM - In the Cantonese dialect of China, means small quantity, amount, proportions or numbers of food considered as snack generally served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate. Dimsum snacks nowadays are considered fitting and ideal when it is enjoyed with a cup of tea. "Going Dimsum" might mean or can actually imply having or going to drink tea or known as Yum Cha in the Cantonese dialect.

Dimsum snacks came about or has its story during the ancient times of China. People who journeyed that time along the famous Silk Road of China were often weary and tired of their travel that inhabitants staying at the side of this road, thought of setting up small places where these travelers can unwind, relax and enjoy a sip from a cup of hot served tea. Later and not too long, it somehow developed and became a trend to serve tea with some delightful chinese snacks.

Moreover, drinking tea alongside eating and relinquishing these tiny meals has a good effect. After a person's great dimsum break, he is not only gastronomically satisfied and his tastebuds savored, he also must not worry about indigestion because drinking tea helps in the food digestion.
